Gaming’s biggest three days of the year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is in full swing this week in Los Angeles. Developers are showing off some interesting new iOS titles, but in the meantime, a few new greats have just hit the App Store. We’re kicking off today’s list with Dream:scape, a new first-person game that uses Infinity Blade’s Unreal Engine 3. After that, there’s 2-D side-scroller 1000 Heroz, in which a new level becomes available each day, and Chop Chop Slicer, a Fruit Ninja-like slicing game with a sci-fi bent. Rounding out the list is a non-game offering in the form of Dreams of Burma, a 1,000-photo-strong trip through the country care of Fotopedia and National Geographic.

Californian Mac technician accused of installing spyware to photograph women
A 20-year-old computer technician working as a Mac repairman was arrested by police in southern California on Wednesday for allegedly installing spyware on laptops that he fixed, thereby enabling him to gain control of the computer’s webcam and remotely take photos of women in various states of undress.
Nintendo stock plunges amid doubts about new Wii
TOKYO – Nintendo stock plunged Wednesday in Tokyo amid doubts about the consumer appeal of the Wii U, the much ballyhooed successor to its hit Wii video game console.
The demonstration of a prototype at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the gaming industry's annual convention, in Los Angeles on Tuesday, appeared to leave investors disappointed and skeptical.
Nintendo Co. shares closed at 16,970 yen ($212.44), down more than 5 percent. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index ended flat.
Shuji Hosoi, analyst at Daiwa Securities Co., said it was unclear how successfully the machine would compete against smartphones and tablet PCs, when device-based gaming was already having to vie against social networks.
It is hard to see how it was different enough to woo users of smartphones and tablet PCs back to gaming, he said.
"People are puzzled whether this will really sell."
Hosoi acknowledged the stock price may recover if Kyoto-based Nintendo could convince investors that the new machine was as fun as smartphones and other new devices.
"But it would be extremely difficult because the competition is so intense," he said, referring to products such as the iPad from Apple Inc. and other rivals. "People have already changed."
The Japanese gaming giant behind Pokemon and Super Mario games said the Wii U will broadcast high-definition video and feature a touchscreen controller that can detect motion. Its price was not disclosed.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told E3 the new controller for Wii U, with its 6.2 inch built-in screen, means players don't necessarily have to watch the TV set.
Nintendo said the Wii U will be released between April and December next year and will be compatible with older Wii games and controllers.
Sales of the Wii have slumped for two years. But the Wii remains the overall top-selling home video game console against Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3.

Star Wars: The Old Republic scores gaudy promotional peripherals from Razer
Razer has announced that it will be producing four peripherals tailored for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The peripherals come packing the (ahem) sharp design that Razer is known for, along with a few slick technical features. The neatest of the bunch is the keyboard, which features a multi-touch LCD panel with a set of adaptive keys similar to those seen on the Razer Switchblade device. The backlit keys can even be converted to the Star Wars language of Aurebesh, which is neat, if not exactly useful.
The SWTOR Gaming Mouse features seventeen programmable buttons, twelve of which rest directly under the thumb. A 5.1 surround sound headset is also in the works. Finally, there's the mouse pad, which features "performance-grade" surfaces and a "non-slip, anti-reflective, abrasion-resistant hard coating." Presumably, you can drag a mouse on it real good. All can be customized to show either the Sith or Republic faction insignia as well.
The mouse and headset will run for $130, while the keyboard will command a hefty $200 price. If you just need something Old Republic, the mouse pad is the cheapest option at $50 but, then again, it's a mouse pad. All the peripherals will be available when The Old Republic launches, which remains as much of a mystery to Razer as it does to everyone else.
